Hawkeyes, Cyclones, Panthers, all picked in NFL draft

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Three Hawkeyes, two Cyclones and two Panthers were selected in the NFL draft on Sunday.

All seven selections came in the final rounds after no players from the state were picked in the first two rounds on Saturday.

Iowa cornerback Charles Godfrey went first Sunday, taken by the Carolina Panthers in the third round. A second-team All-Big Ten selection who led the Hawkeyes with five interceptions last season, was chosen with the 67th overall pick on Sunday.

Hawkeye defensive end Kenny Iwebema was taken in the fourth round by Arizona, the 116th pick overall, and Iowa linebacker Mike Humpal was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 188th overall pick.

Iowa State linebacker Alvin Bowen was chosen in the fifth round by Buffalo, the 147th pick overall, and teammate, nosetackle Ahtyba Rubin, was drafted by Cleveland in the sixth round with the 190th overall pick.

Northern Iowa guard Chad Reinhart, the anchor of an offensive line that helped the Panthers to an unbeaten regular season, was selected by the Washington Redskins in the third round, the 96th player taken in the draft. Another Panther guard, Brandon Keith, was drafted in the seventh round by Arizona, with the 225th overall pick.
