ISU’s Johnson plays entire season with stress fracture

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State basketball player Wesley Johnson is recovering after surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left ankle — an injury he played with all season.

An MRI showed the fracture on April 25. Surgery followed on April 30. ISU athletic trainer Vic Miller says Johnson should be jogging in a few weeks and he should be able to resume basketball activities in about 6 weeks barring complications.

Johnson injured his ankle during practice last October. He was originally diagnosed with a bone bruise. His missed five regular-season games.

Johnson, a sophomore, earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors despite struggling through the foot injury.
