Irwin, O’Meara to play in Principal Charity Classic

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Two more big names in golf are joining the field for the Principal Charity Classic in West Des Moines.
Hale Irwin is a three-time U.S. Open champion. Mark O’Meara is former Masters and British Open champion.
Irwin is the Champion’s Tour all-time career money leader with nearly $25 million. He has 45 Champions Tour wins as well as 20 PGA Tour titles. He won the U.S. Open in 1974, 1979 and 1990.
O’Meara has 16 PGA titles, including the 1998 Masters and British Open titles. He has played in six Champions Tour events in 2008.
The Principal Charity Classic is May 28-June 1 at Glen Oaks Country Club.
Other senior golfers expected are Tom Kite, Scott Hoch, Loren Roberts, Denis Watson, Nick Price, Jim Thorpe, D.A. Weibring and defending champion Jay Haas.
