CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Northern Iowa got two touchdowns each from Pat Grace and Corey Lewis and the Panthers’ defense limited Missouri State to just 81 total yards Saturday in a 42-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference win over the Bears.
Grace returned from an injury to pass for 141 yards and rush for 27 for UNI (8-2, 6-1). He scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and a 4-yard run late in the second.
Lewis led the Panthers in rushing with 188 yards on 24 carries. He scored twice in the third quarter on runs of 1 and 3 yards.
Derrick Law, who ran for 85 yards, scored on an 8-yard run and Craig James returned an interception 75 yards for a score.
The Panthers’ defense took charge early, limiting the Bears (3-6, 2-4) to just 3 yards rushing and 78 yards passing.
Cody Kirby completed 14 of 26 passes and was intercepted once.
Jeff Sargent was the Bears’ leading rusher with 15 yards.
Missouri State was 0-for-11 on third-down conversions.
