Women should have the right to choose

My sister, a religious right to lifer, insisted I read Mr. Carr’s letter. It was very touching and I congratulate Mr. Carr and his parents on their good fortune. However, let me give another side of the coin.
The doctor tells a young couple that if the girl carries her fetus to term, there is a 50-50 chance she will die in childbirth. They have faith that God will help them so she carries the baby to term. God doesn’t like them as well, so she dies in childbirth. One living breathing life has now been sacrificed. The husband who had encouraged her to have faith is now so despondent, he commits suicide. Two down. The child grows up in foster/orphans home and is not well behaved. At 18, he gets a gun and tries to rob a bank. Things go wrong and he shoots a teller. Three down. In the pursuit, he shoots and kills a police officer. Four down. He then spends the rest of his life in prison.
I am a firm believer in a girl’s right to choose what she does with her body, especially in certain circumstances.
