Talk about people in the past, saying what would happen in the future — my father-in-law, Ervin Brooks, worked for Home Oil and Elliott Oil for many years. He told me years ago, that when the big oil companies got all of the little jobbers bought out look out, you will see gas prices skyrocket. That was when gas was only $1 a gallon or less.
Also my stepdad, Lester Burkhalter, when we got electric in 1948 our bill was around $7 a month. The time is coming when you won’t be able to afford your utilities. He also would not have anything to do with government programs because he said the time is coming when the government will tell you what you can’t do. I wonder what they would think if they could step back into the picture today.
