Tenants should know their rights

— In regards to a letter my husband wrote to the editor, “Bad Landlord fleeces family,” published 04-16-08, we have since taken the landlord to small claims court and the judge ruled in our favor. However, this landlord is still refusing to remit payment claiming we had a contract. Contracts can be broken, and has been broken according to the Wapello County courts, (this contract is null and void.) Unfortunately, we have to take him back to court. One bad judgment on our part has led to several months of headache and hassle.
