Idea for Bridge View to be seen from highway

Some time ago I wrote a letter and took it to City Hall. Copies were placed in each of the council member’s, mayor, city administrator and Bridge View Center manager file. Only one person responded — Shannon Addison.

We are always hearing the message “tell us your ideas, etc.” Obviously they are not even interested enough to call, and I have an answering machine. I had at least expected the Bridge View manager to call or write.

So much for that.

Here is the letter.

“Council members and others: I hate to bother each of you with a call. I know how busy you must be. So, I have decided this may be a better idea.

I have a suggestion which may be of interest. I was driving past Bridge View Center and noticed the large expanse of empty wall space. This would be a great place for large letters across the top — Bridge View Center.

It could be seen very clearly from the four-lane highway and let anyone driving through know exactly where the Center is.

Also, depending on cost, a billboard placed on top of the building by the entrance to the Wapello Street bridge in large letters: Bridge View Center, turn left at 4-way stop sign (1/4 mile on left-hand side).

This would direct traffic directly to the center. I think this would be a great help to those coming to the city.”
