With all the talk of deficit reduction during the presidential debate, I want to say thanks to Dave Loebsack for being a leader on a sensible way to reduce our deficit through a balanced approach. Dave worked with a Republican to introduce legislation to require a more balanced budget. His opponent, unfortunately, is part of the problem party, advocating more tax cuts for the wealthy while seniors would eventually be forced into a voucher system for Medicare. Dave Loebsack has my vote in Congress because he is advocating a balanced approach that asks those benefiting the most from our nation to pay a fair share while we make investments in areas that have traditionally supported the middle class like education, infrastructure and manufacturing. Dave has been pushing for ways to reform the budget process like through a balanced-budget amendment and through pay-as-you-go budgeting rules in addition to cutting unnecessary programs and regulations. Dave understands that we have to work together to get our economy back on track, not follow the same old failed trickle down approach his opponent is proposing.
