Big government or preserving freedom?

OSKALOOSA — To make a fair analysis of President Obama and his administration, it is wise to investigate facts that happened the last four years.

I think President Obama exhibited disrespect for the checks and balances provided by the three branches of government. If Congress doesn’t do what Obama asks, he goes around it. When Congress didn’t: pass Obama’s Dream Act, he issued an executive order directing officers not to deport certain illegal immigrants; repeal the Medical Marijuana law, he instructed his Justice Department to not prosecute transgressors; repeal the Defense of Marriage Law, he stopped its defense in court; pass Cap and Trade legislation, his Environmental Protection Agency is instituting it through broad interpretation of the Clean Air Act; pass “net neutrality” Internet regulations, his Federal Communications Commission did it unilaterally; confirm Obama’s picks for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), he recessed the Senate and appointed members anyway; and pass his “card-check” legislation eliminating secret ballots in union elections, he appointed NLRB members who passed a similar election law.

Obama assured passage of “Obamacare” by giving Bluedog congressmen goodies for their states in exchange for yes votes rather than voting their constituents’ wants. He expanded “executive privilege” in order to deny House Republicans documents for the botched Fast and Furious drug war operation, denying Congress their responsibility for oversight. He pushed new federal water and land laws intended to stop fracking and denied the Canadian pipeline construction, thus ensuring our need to purchase foreign oil. Obama dislikes Arizona’s efforts to check immigration status, so he sued. Efforts by his Justice Department to stop voter identification and to stop states from cleaning their voter rolls invite fraudulent voting.

Harry Reid pockets bills submitted by Republicans then accuses Republicans of having no ideas. Obama’s plan? To tax the rich, thus suppressing ambition and job dedication. Guess what happens when the rich run out of money.

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” (attributed to Winston Churchill)

Our choice: big government and social justice or preservation of freedom!
