Are our guns being used for protection?

submitted

OTTUMWA — I don’t like guns.

Our local law enforcement will protect us from criminals who want to do us harm. Or does our law enforcement mostly react to criminal offenses that have already happened?

I don’t like guns.

Mentally deranged people and criminals use guns as a tool to hurt innocent people. Law-abiding people only utilize guns for sport, hunting or self-protection.

I don’t like guns.

Guns go out looking for innocent people to kill. Or is it the criminal that goes out looking for innocent people to kill?

I don’t like guns.

According to history, Germans did not invade Switzerland because they knew most Swiss homes were armed.

I don’t like guns.

According to history, following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese chose not to invade the continental United States because they knew American homes were armed.

I don’t like guns.

Movie stars, politicians and our elite class don’t pack firearms to protect themselves and think lesser-moneyed, law-abiding citizens should not have guns to protect themselves. The elite hire armed guards.

I don’t like guns.

Why on earth would a law-abiding person even want a gun, or could it have something to do with protecting our country from armed invasions, protecting our freedom from an oppressive government and protecting our person and our families from criminals?

Hmm.
