A change to my Christmas wish list

OTTUMWA — Dear Santa,

I need to change my list. I had originally asked for a 3-D version of the new “Call of Duty” video game. Scratch that. I have found something far more exciting and realistic.

I would like a day pass to the War-torn Europe exhibit on North Court in Ottumwa.

As I understand it, visitors can dodge heavy equipment, leap over giant holes in the ground, and skirt live electrical wires and gas lines, all while protecting themselves from flying debris.

I haven’t seen it myself, but I am told the actual building still stands where a once thriving flower shop used to operate. All of the merchandise is still on the shelves just as it was before the devastation. They say that if you are perfectly still and look close enough you can sometimes see figures moving inside. Perhaps they are the ghosts of the people who used to make a living there.

Anyway, I’m not sure what it costs, but I think a trip to such a dangerous minefield would be far more exciting than any old video game.

You shouldn’t have any trouble parking the sleigh as I’ve been told there hasn’t been a car in the lot since the exhibit opened.
