Arc gives sincere thanks for support

FAIRFIELD — Sincere thanks to the many wonderful Arc volunteers, individuals, organizations, businesses and media in Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Van Buren and Wapello counties for supporting The Arc for 40 years.

Over the years, the organization has been known by different names — Jefferson County Association for Retarded Children, Jefferson County Association for Retarded Citizens (because both children and adults were being served), then Association for Retarded Citizens of Jefferson County (so the organization at local, state and national would all be known by the same name, then by the area being served) — all commonly known as the ARC — and, since 1992, The Arc of Jefferson & Nearby Counties.

It is that wonderful, ongoing support that has made it possible for The Arc to exist and continue to serve for 40 years. We are beholden to you because we could never have provided so many good things for individuals who are intellectually and/or otherwise developmentally disabled within the area for 40 years without your help and support. It would be impossible to list all who have been a part of our successful longevity — you know who you are — and we want you to know we appreciate you more than words can say.
