Thank you for donations to Samaritan’s Purse

OTTUMWA — Thank you Ottumwa and southeast Iowa!

You prepared and donated 9,125 shoeboxes to Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child! This is over an 18 percent increase from last year. These were from relay centers at Keokuk, Burlington, Mt. Pleasant, Pella, Oskaloosa and Ottumwa.

Over 100 million shoeboxes have been collected and distributed during the past 20 years by Samaritan’s Purse.

Thank you to the individuals, churches and other organizations that made this possible. Special thanks to the volunteers, at all levels, for their sacrifice of time and effort.

Shoeboxes from our region (Minneapolis) are going to 11 countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Haiti, Niger, Kenya, Togo, Malaysia, Uganda, Columbia, Suriname and China. Shoeboxes are a mission outreach containing a variety of gifts for children ages 2-14.

If you are interested, you can still donate a shoebox online until Christmas at and select Build-A-Box.
