Abortion only leads to greater problems

submitted

FAIRFIELD — I was privileged to take part recently in the first annual Midwest March for Life in Des Moines.

Some 700 people of all ages from near and far marched and sang around the beautiful State Capitol Building, some with signs affirming life and the pain and devastation of abortion.

Speakers spoke and pastors from different denominations led in prayer for our country in memorial of the 40th year since Roe vs. Wade legalized the killing to the time of birth of unborn babies, not just “blobs of tissue” and “clumps of cells” as frightened and desperate mothers are led to believe by the abortion industry. Abortion is no solution but only leads to greater and more serious problems. There is love, help and hope at the many crisis centers such as the Heartland Pregnancy Center in Ottumwa and elsewhere where free services and ultrasounds are to be had. There is also hope and healing after abortion with programs such as Rachel’s Vineyard and Silent No More Awareness.

There are some 55 million innocent unborn children that we know of, the unreported, and by the abortive effects of contraceptives, that have been sacrificed in the holocaust of abortion in this country. This is not to say of their children who are not among us today.

Leading medical experts speaking at a major International Symposium on Excellence in Maternal Healthcare concluded that abortion is never medically necessary to save the life of a mother. Groundbreaking research, new clinical practices and therapies and shared clinical experiences from many fields of medicine have further concluded these facts beyond a doubt, thus giving clarity and confirmation to doctors and legislators and does not affect in any way to the availability of optimal, the best care to pregnant women.

The current public debate confuses abortion with legitimate medical treatment with misinformation that abounds. Clear evidence shows that the best medical practice and care for mothers does not involve abortion, especially with new therapies such as in cancer, in-utero fetal surgery, etc., thus putting an end to the false argument that abortion is needed to treat and save the lives of women. Abortion has no place in treating women and their unborn children.

The truth sets us free! Life is sacred from the moment of conception until natural death.
