Gun laws won't stop criminals

BLOOMFIELD — When did you ever know of or hear of a criminal that wanted a gun to commit a crime with? (Say, I want a gun but I can’t have one because of gun regulations.) It takes a special kind of stupid to think that a criminal can’t get a gun one way or another.

Most of these anti-gun laws just make it safer for the criminals. For instance, if one of those officials in that school where 26 people were murdered would have had a gun and shot the killer, maybe some of those lives could have been saved. The same thing happened at the largest military base in the United States, at Fort Hood, Texas, when a nut killed 13 and wounded 33 others before someone shot him. When I was in the service over 60 years ago, almost all officers carried a handgun of some kind.

When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have them. Most gun laws make it just that much harder for the law-abiding people, safer for the killer and more dangerous for us.

I would point out at this time that when Hitler gained such complete control over Germany, he started with gun regulations and then passed a law that those guns were illegal. In just two maneuvers, he disarmed Germany. Then he rounded up over 20 million people that were unable to defend themselves in anyway and murdered them.

The great Paul Harvey researched all the countries that outlawed guns and about the same thing happened.

You can’t legislate guns out of the hands of criminals.
