Events boost pride in Ottumwa

Ottumwa Courier

---- — Last week, I participated in three events in the city of Ottumwa that gave me a sense of hope and pride for our city.

The first event was $$$ for Aidan benefit hosted by St. Paul Church. The financial support for this benefit was outstanding. It was an indication to me of how much the community can accomplish if we work together and support one another.

The second event was last Saturday morning when a group of Rotarians gathered together at 7 a.m. for the sole purpose of walking the roadside ditches along highway 163/63 heading north out of Ottumwa to pick up trash. They walked the ditches for about an hour and a half in an effort to clean up the environment and show pride for our community. This was, again, an example of community members working together and supporting one another for the benefit of our community.

The third event was held at the Bridge View center on Sunday evening where a couple hundred people came together to pray for the pastors, churches, elected leaders and children in our community. The prayers were offered in both English and Spanish, reflecting the changing culture in Ottumwa and how we can work together for the benefit of our community. Thank you, Ottumwa, and let us all continue to work together and support one another for the benefit of our community.
