Library doing many great things for the community

Ottumwa Courier

---- — This past week was National Friends of the Library week. Here in Ottumwa, our public library would not be able to provide all the materials, resources and programming that it does without the support and assistance provided by our local Ottumwa Public Library Friends, Inc.

This year, the Friends group has decided to expand its membership to encourage businesses in the community to become members. The dues to join as a business are $100. It is an excellent way to show your customers that you support vital programs in Ottumwa.

We have also begun working on a project in which we will partner with the local hospital to provide coupons to new moms and dads that will be good for a free baby board book here at the library. The Friends are sponsoring this project, and we are excited to get it off the ground in the next fewweeks.

This is all in addition to our book sale shelves in the library and our annual book sale with the Bridge View Center and the Ottumwa CVB in the spring.

Thanks in part to organizations like the Ottumwa Public Library Friends, Inc., we are able to provide the services and programs we do for the Ottumwa community. If you are interested in more information about becoming a member of the Friends group, please contact the library.
