A male Monarch butterfly darts into the face of Pioneer Ridge naturalist Annette Wittrock fractions of a second after she places it on the hand of three year old Trevor Summers at the Pioneer Ridge Nature Area on Sunday. Before placing the Monarch on the hand of Summers, Wittrock tagged the butterfly with a small sticker as part of a program with the University of Kansas in an attempt to study the Monarch's migratory patterns. - Doug Sundin
