Three area communities receive water and sewer grants

DES MOINES — Gov. Chet Culver has announced 34 communities will receive more than $12 million in Community Development Block Grant funds through the Community Facilities and Services Fund and the Water/Sewer Fund.
Most projects received additional funding from the State Revolving Fund (SRF), a program jointly administered through the Iowa Department of National Resources and Iowa Finance Authority. The Iowa SRF provides low interest loans for drinking water and wastewater treatment infrastructure improvements and non-point source water quality projects.
 
Area Community Facility award recipients include:
Van Buren County, $516,000

Water and Sewer award recipients include:
Bloomfield, $600,000
Milton, $300,000, $327,500 (SRF)
