Wapello County Supervisors happy with efforts to get new rock on gravel roads
In other words, the money still comes out of the pot for Wapello County.
Siegel said Ottumwa trails projects that tap the Wapello County money will probably require similar maneuvers.

OTTUMWA — Wapello County residents are advised that due to the exceptional winter and spring weather and the deterioration of the gravel roads, Wapello County will impose a deadline for dust control permits in Wapello County effective this season. Deadline for applications will be May 15.
Dust control permits can be obtained at the Wapello County Engineer’s Office. Country crews will be preparing roads May 19-30 and vendors will apply dust control product June 2-13.
Please note the following dates:
July 15 — Deadline for second application permits.
July 21 to Aug. 1 — Country road crews will prepare roads for second application of dust control.
Aug. 4-15 — Vendors apply dust control.
Oct. 1-31 — County road crews prepare roads for winter.
Due to the deterioration of the gravel roads, Wapello County will be working to reshape roads and apply stone throughout the summer months as conditions warrant. During this process of grading and rocking roads, dust-controlled areas may be disturbed. Please be aware of this when considering dust control this year.
