OTTUMWA — Most public nudity charges, at least in Ottumwa, seem to stem from people who have had a bit too much to drink deciding an alley is better than a bathroom. Cases in which police pull up and arrest someone who is walking around sober and stark naked are rarer.
But it happens.
Manoulis Galanakis, 58, of Greenfield, Iowa, was arrested at Richmond Avenue and Ferry Street at 2:13 p.m. Monday. Police responded after callers reported a naked man walking around the area. One person even snapped a photo with a cell phone, a shot that made e-mail rounds in Ottumwa on Tuesday.
Galanakis was charged with public nudity and disorderly conduct, and was taken to the Wapello County Jail.
