Thursday crash sends two to hospital

OTTUMWA — A crash Thursday evening sent two people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says vehicles driven by James Curtis, 24, of Albia and Angella Cartwright, 40, of Blakesburg, collided at Highway 34 and 215th Avenue. The patrol’s report said Cartwright was turning left onto 215th Avenue when Curtis struck her car from the rear.

Both were taken by ambulance to Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Two minor children in Cartwright’s vehicle were not injured. The report says both were properly restrained in the car’s rear seats.

Charges are pending, though the investigation remains open.
