Cow dog tryouts coming up in June

ALBIA — The Iowa Cow Dog Club is helping with two cattle dog trials June 20-21.
These trials have brought handlers and dogs from the Midwest and throughout the United States. Several of these handlers and dogs that have competed here in the past have gone onto the National Cattle Dog Trials.
These trials are one of the few cattle dog trials held in Iowa for the year. The top dogs from the open and pro-novice classes from both days combined will have a chance to compete for added money, winner take all, in the Shoot-Out. Entry forms and maps for both days can be found at www.IowaCowDogClub.com.
The first day of trials is on June 20 and will be held south of Moravia at the Irvin Williams Rodeo Arena (one mile south of Moravia on 250th Avenue). The trials will start at 10 a.m. This trial will be put on by Ed Ball of Albia (641) 932-5844 or (641) 932-7887, e-mail: eball@psbalbia.com.
The second day of the trial is on June 21 and will be held north of Keosauqua (18594 Highway 1, 2.5 miles north of Keosauqua). The trial will start at 9 a.m. The Shoot-Out will be held after the other trials are done This trial will be put on by Gary Goehring of Keosauqua (641) 919-0865).
Handlers and spectators are welcome to come. These events will be held outdoors so bring a lawn chair.
