By Mark Newman, Courier staff writer

BLOOMFIELD — Authorities continue to investigate an accident that claimed the life of an infant.

Around noon Thursday, Loretta Fay Bales of Floris was driving her Ford Taurus south on Highway 63 about 1.5 miles north of Bloomfield. William Davis of Alden, 57, was also driving south on Highway 63 in a semi.

According to the accident report, as Bales was attempting to turn into a business driveway, her vehicle was struck in the rear by the semi.

Killed in the accident was Bales’ son, Quenton, 4 months, who was strapped in the vehicle.

Bales and another passenger, Adrain Bales, 3, were transported by ambulance to Davis County Hospital.
