BLOOMFIELD — Firetrucks at the Davis County schools were not an indicator of terrible news, but there was a fire.
“The maintenance crew was removing old playground equipment,” said Sam Miller, the superintendent.
They used instruments to cut bolts off, but heated the bolts. When they fell onto the rubber material underneath, they started a fire. The fire department put it out.
“The only thing that was damaged was the old piece of playground equipment, which was headed to the dump anyway,” said Miller.
The good news, he said, is that the equipment was being disposed of because an organization of parents raised money for new equipment.
