OTTUMWA — The City of Ottumwa has announced that there will be an Independence Day fireworks display on July 4.
Eight local businesses have contributed a combined $10,500 to fund what will be one of Ottumwa’s largest fireworks displays ever.
Cargill Meat Solutions, John Deere Ottumwa Works, United Food & Commercial Workers Local 230, the Ottumwa Courier, Family Planning, Fareway Stores Inc., Real Estate Services and Richwell Carpet & Cabinet Center, and have partnered to fund the cost of the community’s fireworks display.
“These businesses and organizations have come forward to make this annual event possible. We are grateful for their willingness to be community partners and their sponsorship of Ottumwa’s fireworks. These companies play important roles in our community, not only through the employment and services they provide, but the support they give back to the community,” said City Administrator Joe Helfenberger.
