Fees are waived for flood debris

By Cindy Toopes, Courier staff writer

OTTUMWA — During a special meeting, the Ottumwa/Wapello County Solid Waste Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved waiving landfill fees for flood debris.

City Council members are part of the commission. After that meeting, council members conducted their own meeting and unanimously approved two more flood-related items recommended by Health Director Jody Gates:

• A memo of understanding between the city and Wapello County for flood inspections by Ottumwa inspectors in the unincorporated areas of Wapello County.

• A memo of understanding between the city of Eldon and city of Ottumwa for flood inspections by Ottumwa inspectors in Eldon.
