OTTUMWA — Steven Zatarga and Ryan Harder will go on trial later than anticipated.
The two Michigan men were arrested in December 2007 after they allegedly picked up two girls near the Five Corners intersection in Ottumwa. Authorities say they took the girls, ages 12 and 15, to a hotel and sexually assaulted them before returning them to the intersection the next morning.
Zatarga, 25, and Harder, 24, each face a charge of sexual abuse in the third degree. The charge is a Class C felony.
Their trials were originally set for April, but have undergone several changes. A judge ordered the trials combined in April and also bumped the trial back to July. The new order moves the trials to Oct. 14.
The men face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. They are out on bond and are living in their Michigan hometown.
