Nuisance ordinance on July 28 agenda

Council to vote on first reading Monday night

BY CINDY TOOPES COURIER STAFF WRITER

Councilman Keith Caviness said he “won’t support” the ordinance. “It’s too wordy, too broad. I won’t support it in any way,” he added.

For “a number of reasons,” Councilwoman Shannon Addison said she believes the proposed ordinance is “excellent.” No one living in the city should have to see “the slaughter of animals” in someone’s front yard, she added.

Mayor Dale Uehling said the council now has an updated version and he asked members if they want it on the next agenda.

Addison moved to put the first reading of the proposed nuisance ordinance on the agenda for the July 28 council meeting. On a 4-1 vote, the council agreed to do so. Caviness dissented.
