Hey you! Put down that cell phone while driving

Browsing Around

By CINDY TOOPES Courier staff writer

The job of driving itself is multi-tasking. I remember driving instructors who chirped in my ear the whole time about how many things there are to watch and keep checking every few seconds — the mirrors, traffic ahead, parked cars (Is anyone waiting there to step out in front of you?), kids playing near the street, etc.

Okay, so several miles on the mega-highway can get boring. Try the radio. That’s distraction enough. I’ve fiddled with radio buttons and looked at them too long and nearly drove off the road.

By now, I’m sure I’ve worried all of my insurance people.

I don’t like to drive any more. Our world keeps changing and I’ve had to add one more thing to the list of multi-tasking while behind the wheel — praying.
