Police investigate Bloomfield robbery

By PAT SHAVER Courier staff writer

BLOOMFIELD — Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Thursday at the Pizza Hut in Bloomfield.

At 9:53 p.m. Thursday, the Davis County Law Center received a call reporting an armed robbery at the business. Police said no one was injured in the incident, but a weapon was displayed.

“Around closing time, one of the victims was walking outside to do the trash; according to him, the subject was waiting out there and [pointed] the firearm at him and led him inside,” said Bloomfield Police Chief Shawn Armstrong. There were only two employees in the restaurant at the time.

Police said witnesses described the suspect as a male in his mid 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin build, 120-140 pounds with blue eyes. Witnesses said the firearm looked similar to a 9 millimeter handgun.

The man ordered the employees to give him money, but they didn’t have access, so the suspect fled with no money, Armstrong said.

Police have a few leads and are continuing to investigate the robbery, according to a Bloomfield Police news release.

“No arrests have been made. We are following a few leads right now. And there’s possibly some physical evidence we’re analyzing right now,” Armstrong said, adding that the possible physical evidence is fingerprints left by the suspect.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Bloomfield Police Department at (641) 664-2700. Armstrong said police may offer a reward for information that leads to catching the suspect.
