Bypass opens Monday By MATT MILNER Courier staff writerTwo current state legislators, Mary Gaskill and John Whitaker, were at Friday’s ceremony. The four-lane highways will benefit them along with their constituents.
“It makes it easier for me to get [to Des Moines], so I’m looking forward to that,” Gaskill said. The bypass opens to regular traffic on Monday. The Fairfield bypass, the final segment of the Des Moines-Burlington corridor, is expected to open this time next year.
