ALBIA — A weekend crash near Knoxville between a tractor and a minivan left one person dead.

The crash took place at 6:01 a.m. Saturday, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Danny Pearson, 53, of Knoxville, was maneuvering farm equipment on Quebec Street in Knoxville when the tractor was struck. The driver of the minivan, Darl Mendenhall, 58, of Albia, was taken by ambulance to Marion County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The patrol report said Mendenhall was not wearing his seat belt.

Charges are pending in the case, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
