---- — OTTUMWA — The man authorities say slammed a stolen truck into an Ottumwa home is pleading guilty.
Gregory Ableman is accused of stealing a 1998 Ford Bronco last July and fled when an officer tried to pull him over. He was going an estimated 80 mph when he lost control and crashed into a house at 314 Chester Ave.
The Ottumwa Police Department said at the time Ableman was not chased that the officer made the decision a high-speed chase in a residential area was too risky.
Ableman was charged with drunken driving, eluding, theft, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while suspended, illegal possession of prescription medication, stop sign violation and no SR-22 insurance.
He filed a written plea go guilty to drunken driving in the case. The disposition of the other charges is unclear.
Plea proceedings are scheduled for March 5, 2014.
