---- — OTTUMWA — How does telling the City Council what you want to be put in the 2015 City Budget sound? The Ottumwa City Council is granting that wish tonight at the council meeting at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers of city hall.
Council members will be taking input from the public on what they want to see put into the Fiscal Year 2015 City Budget. Before a budget draft is prepared, the City Council wants to be sure they consider the opinions of community members.
Areas of concern include street maintenance and reconstruction, park repairs and improvements, Ottumwa Transit service, fire and police protection, sidewalks and airport improvements, among various other topics.
There will also be a second opportunity to give input on the budget at the Dec. 3 council meeting, followed by two budget workshops at council chambers on Jan. 23 and Feb. 10, 2014. The new council members will take office in January, so they will be part of these final two discussions.
The budget will be published Feb. 20, 2014, and there will be a public hearing and consideration of adoption on Mar. 4, 2014, before it will be certified to the County Auditor on Mar. 15, 2014.
