OTTUMWA — Police are looking for a man suspected of an armed robbery in Ottumwa Halloween night.

Ottumwa Police Sgt. Steve Kovacs said that a man wearing a mask entered the BP gas station on West Second Street. He assaulted an employee at around 10 p.m. Wednesday, the sergeant said, and “told the clerk he had a gun,” though none was displayed.

The masked man then stole an undisclosed amount of cash, as well as cigarettes.

“He is believed to be a white male in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches, [about average] build or maybe a little stockier, with an estimate of about 180-200 pounds,” said Kovacs.

Police investigators are not currently describing the exact nature of the mask as they continue their investigation.

However, Kovacs added, if anyone has any information, they can contact the Ottumwa Police Department investigation division at 641-683-0661 or 641-683-0639.
