OTTUMWA — People who planned on planting trees this weekend will still be able to do so, but there has been a change in how they can pick them up.
Operation ReLeaf allows people to purchase landscaping trees at a discount. People who purchased the trees can pick them up Saturday, but the planned site by the Beach isn't available. It is being used for efforts to fight flooding.
The location didn't move far. It's now at Bridge View Center's parking lot between 9-11 a.m.
From the city:
Residents who purchased trees through Operation ReLeaf are reminded that they must pick up their trees this Saturday. Due to flood fighting efforts along the levee near the Beach Ottumwa, the tree pick up has been moved to the south-east corner of the Bridge View Center parking lot. Trees must be picked up between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20.
Operation ReLeaf is a joint partnership between the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Alliant Energy to provide an opportunity for Alliant Energy customers to purchase landscape trees at discount prices.
