Palmer starts season on a positive note: Bailey Palmer paced the Bulldogs by rolling a 199 average in the girls’ season-opening win over Dowling.

Picking up spares: Ottumwa girls’ coach Doug Techel was particularly happy with how his team picked up spares in its opening dual of the season.

Coach Doug Techel says: “We want to make sure that we stay consistent. That’s what I’m going to preach the whole year. We did a good job at picking up spares in the last meet, and we want to continue that.”

Joey Lee leads the way: Joey Lee spearheaded the Ottumwa boys’ team’s efforts in its season-opening win over Dowling, bowling an average of 230.

Rising above expectations: The Bulldogs beat their target goal of 2,900 against Dowling, finishing with a overall score of 3,021.

Coach Brett Salter says: “It’s going to be a year of progress, getting better all year for us.”
