While this weekend’s snowstorm fell well short of the most dire predictions, it’s clear winter isn’t through with the area yet.
Another major winter storm is expected to hit the area Tuesday. While predictions vary, the National Weather Service has released a graphic showing Ottumwa getting more than six-and-a-half inches of snow. Bloomfield’s forecast of more than 7.5 inches is among the highest in the state.
A winter storm watch goes into effect for the western part of the Courier's coverage area, including Wapello County, at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Forecasters have Ottumwa at a 100 percent chance of snow Tuesday and Tuesday night, and a 20 percent chance on Wednesday. Then the bottom falls out of temperatures. Wednesday night’s low in Ottumwa is forecast at -11. Thursday’s high will rise, barely, topping out at 6 above.
Temperatures will begin a slow climb from that, but another round of snow is possible on Friday and Saturday.
