---- — OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa Regional Healthy Auxiliary is gearing up for the holiday season early this year.

On Sunday, Nov. 3, the auxiliary is sponsoring a soup supper from 4:30-7 p.m. in the Ottumwa Regional Health Center Cafeteria. The supper is open for anyone to attend and is an all-you-can-eat event, with a choice of soup from chicken noodle, chili and vegetable beef. They will also have a relish tray with dips, beverages and an assortment of delicious pies available.

“It gets all of my volunteers and auxiliary together for a night to have fun,” said auxiliary director Beverly Molkenthin. “It’s a fundraiser that we’ve had for many, many years.”

Tickets for the supper cost $6 and are available before the supper at the Auxiliary Member Occasions! Gift Shop, information desk or volunteer office. They will also be available at the door during the supper.

If you don’t care to eat your soup in the cafeteria, a to-go option is also available from 4:30-6 p.m. To-go orders will be given out in the circle drive drive-up.

After getting full on soup and pie, guests are encouraged to head over to Conference Room D of the health center, where there will be a Holiday Gift Sale. The gift sale lasts from 1-7 p.m. Nov. 3 and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 4.

Volunteers will be selling various items, including University of Iowa and Iowa State University apparel, kitchen accessories and other Christmas items.

All of the proceeds from the soup supper and gift sale will go to the Teen Health Center at Ottumwa High School. The Teen Health Center is very important to Molkenthin and the auxiliary, and they give all they can to help with its funding so students have a place to go at the high school.

“[Teen Health Center] helps the teens be able to stay in school and helps the parents so they don’t have to go to a doctor for just a cold,” Molkenthin said.
