OTTUMWA — Two areas of construction work may force motorists to take detours through town for a few days.
The Ottumwa Water Works began installing a new water main on Harrows Branch today. Motorists should be aware that West Second Street near the intersection with Harrows Branch will be down to one lane, and Harrows Branch will be closed at the intersection with Second Street for several days while the new line is installed by the railroad tracks. Drivers can expect delays due to the reduced traffic capacity and should seek other routes if possible.
Drivers and neighborhood residents are also advised that the intersection of Sixth and North Court streets has been closed for reconstruction. Crews are removing concrete and repaving the area. Work should be complete by the end of the week. There will be no access at this intersection. Sixth Street residents, between Court and Market streets, will have access from Market Street.
