OSKALOOSA — An 18-year-old inmate at the Mahaska County Jail fled custody recently while at a doctor's appointment.
At approximately 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, while at a scheduled appointment at a local doctor's office, inmate Martell Lamar Tillman-Hollinshed attempted to assault Jailer J.R. Draughn with a fire extinguisher while trying to flee custody.
Tillman-Hollinshed was apprehended in a neighboring yard, and after a scuffle, Draughn, Dr. Karen Spahr and members of her staff restrained him. During this scuffle, Draughn and Spahar were assaulted.
Draughn and Tillman-Hollinshed were both treated and released.
The Mahaska County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Services, Spahr and her staff as well as the Oskaloosa Police Department.
