Municipal band goes to the fair

---- — OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa Municipal Band will present a special concert this week as part of the Wapello County 4-H Expo. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Bridgeview Center auditorium. In keeping with the expo theme, director Brenda Hagedon said that the concert will feature music associated with fairs and animals.

Joining the band this week will be children from the Ottumwa Community Children’s Playhouse, who will perform selections from “The Little Mermaid.” They will perform “The Little Mermaid Jr.” at Bridgeview Center on Sept. 6-8. OCCP was started in 2004 as a way for children to experience theater, and productions have included “Robin Hood,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Tom Sawyer,” “101 Dalmatians,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Annie.”

The complete program for tonight includes: The Star Spangled Banner, Cripple Creek, The Little Mermaid, The Little Red Fox, Ten Little Indians, Frolic of the Frogs, Tiger Rag, I Scream-You Scream-We All Scream for Ice Cream, Rampage of the Old Grey Mare, Mother Goose Jumps, Three Bears, Horse and Buggy, Circus Bee and America, the Beautiful.
