KEOSAUQUA — After months of searching, the Van Buren County Board of Supervisors have hired a county engineer.
Earlier this week, the board approved the appointment of Jeff Williams, Rock Rapids, as county engineer, effective for a one-year period beginning July 1 at an annual salary of $77,500.
The current engineer, Dave Barrett, makes $71,000.
Williams will be employed as an assistant engineer, effective June 16 at the same rate of pay mentioned above with vacation to accrue at two weeks per year beginning June 16. On July 1, he will be county engineer. Supervisors interviewed four applicants.
Williams will replace Barrett, who is retiring on June 30. Williams was the Lyon County Engineer for 28 years.
