Wapello County officials will soon be looking a lot better on the county’s website.
During Tuesday’s board meeting, the supervisors and Brad Timberlake and Mike Heckers, both of Professional Computer Solutions (PCS), Inc., of Ottumwa, discussed updating Wapello County’s website.
Mike Heckers, the PCS Web developer, said the company has worked on the county’s website and various departments seem interested in upgrading the photos and text.
Supervisor Jerry Parker said the county’s website now has some age, and the board wants to do an overall upgrade on the information and photos.
Timberlake said the site can be updated by using a Smart Phone, which is user friendly.
“But the county’s current site is out of date,” he noted. “Now the site is overlapping the links, so the county needs a better user experience.”
Heckers and Timberlake said the site is getting more than 5,000 hits but only about 2,000 users are returning to stay maybe 30 seconds.
“We want to make the site more easy to access,” Parker said.
Board members and staff must also note three main factors in updating their information. Each department must add its own extra pages (at no cost), but first the site must be built so the creator will know the number of revisions and what’s needed, Parker added.
