---- — OTTUMWA — Just about everyone enjoys getting “Pages for Pennies.”

Mark Eckman, director of the Ottumwa Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, said Wednesday that donations are still being accepted through 5 p.m. May 10 for the second annual Pages for Pennies Sale May 16-19 at Bridge View Center.

Following the success of 2012 sale, organizers knew another sale had to take place this year.

And they have been impressed by the outpouring of donated items including used books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, board games, magazines and sheet music. Eckman said donations can be dropped off in the two shopping carts located in the lobby of Bridge View Center during regular business hours.

“We have had lots of items coming in, so we’re sorting a lot,” he said. “So far we have sorted more than 150 boxes of books and other materials.”

Eckman said proceeds will benefit the Friends of Ottumwa Public Library, Bridge View Center and the Ottumwa Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“The proceeds will be split equally,” he said.

This year’s hours are from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, May 16, which is the “Preview Night.” Admission is $5, which will help to cover book sale expenses.

Admission is free the next three days: noon to 8 p.m. Friday, May 17; 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19. All items are 50 percent off the final day.
