Arraignment set in truck-house collision

OTTUMWA — The man accused of driving a truck through an Ottumwa family's living room will be arraigned next month.

Gregory Ableman, 22, 524 Burrhus St., was charged with second-degree theft, eluding or attempting to elude while participating in a felony or operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated and possession of prescription drugs without a prescription.

On July 11, Ableman allegedly slammed a stolen 1998 Ford Bronco into a house at 314 Chester Ave. after stealing the truck from another house a block away. No one in the home sustained any injuries.

Ableman will be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11.

He is being held in Wapello County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Information regarding the condition of the house was unavailable as of press time Friday.
