Van Buren School Board discusses phone system, baseball field

---- — KEOSAUQUA — The Van Buren Community School Board met Aug. 28 in a special meeting and work session.

Several items were discussed, including:

• Renee Thomas presented information about the Kuno rollout. She provided Kunos for board members to examine and discussed the format of parent meetings held at Keosauqua and Douds. The rollout was planned for Aug. 30 in both buildings.

• Mary Beth Sanchez from J&S Electronic Business Systems, Inc. of Burlington presented five options for the new phone system. The board voted to accept bid No. 5 from J&S at an estimated cost of $45,997.00. This includes both the Keosauqua and Douds centers.

• There was no new information regarding the bid on the baseball field. Board approved the estimated bid of $2,506.00 to re-sod the infield.

• The board approved the transfer of Lucy Dietzman from elementary to secondary cook, approved Eric Speer and Tim Sprouse as varsity volleyball volunteers and approved music and cheerleading fundraisers.

Afterwards, the board met with in a work session with BLDD architects and also to discuss the board secretary-business manager position. The board is considering having the AEA do the business manager portion.
