OTTUMWA — A bizarre crash Tuesday morning didn't injure anyone, but it could have been much worse.
Authorities said a Ford F-150 slammed broadside into a car parked at Kohl's in Ottumwa. The car was pushed sideways across a concrete barrier, then up onto the sidewalk in front of the store. The car came to rest against the building, with the truck sitting in the driving lane nearby.
Witnesses said the truck was driven by a young man who told them he passed out before the collision.
The car missed a large window by just a couple feet. Had the car been just a little farther over it could have gone through the store's front windows as employees were holding a meeting near the front of the store.
Sgt. Jason Parminder said, despite the impressive damage to both vehicles, only property was damaged.
